Why Are Entomologists Important?

The research of insects and their interactions with other living things, people, and the environment is known as entomology. The disciplines of molecular science, criminology, forensics, chemistry, biology, human and animal health, and agriculture all benefit greatly from the work of entomologists. The study of insects forms the foundation for advancements in a wide range of scientific domains, including chemical and biologic pest management, food and fiber supply and preservation, pharmaceutical epidemiology, biological diversity, and many more. By identifying the role that bugs play in the transmission of illness and figuring out how to prevent harm to cattle, feed and fiber crops, and other resources, professional entomologists advance humankind.
